MTO Willis - 1005

tweed. vintage English tweed. purchased in London after the war by Emily's grandparents with the intent to make a dress for her and a suit for him. the dress was made, but they ran out of money before making the suit. and so the tweed sat. when her grandparents passed away recently, Emily wanted to see the tweed go to a good home, where it would be used and appreciated. eventually, she came to see me at my studio and presented to me this gorgeous, thick, substantial tweed. tweed that looks and feels like it was woven to withstand the elements. plainweave with flecks of red, yellow, and white. my most prized fabric.

leather peak stiffener has a natural curve that will adapt to your handling habits. will not crack or break. crown is hand-stitched to peak.

style: 6-panel newsboy
color: speckled oatmeal
shell: wool tweed
lining: cotton/linen
inner band: cotton corduroy
peak: leather stiffener, wool exterior

style notes

the Willis is a six panel newsboy cap based on the Brawler cap, but with slimmer sides and slightly deeper crown. looks great on both men and women. the leather brim stiffener provides a natural curve that adapts to the handling habits of the wearer yet will not crease or dry out. each cap is individually handcrafted with strong attention to detail.

if your Willis becomes soiled, i recommend hand-washing in cool water with mild soap. air dry.
do not put your cap in the dryer. the intense heat may shrink the cap and dry out the leather in the brim.

to properly determine your cap size, measure the circumference of your head at the widest part, or where your caps generally sit, using a soft measuring tape or string and ruler. always measure a few times to determine the maximum measurement. see the chart below to determine your size. (measurements are all +/- 1/8")

i recommend buying a cap that will fit snug (not tight) upon the first wear. with just a little bit of time, the cap will shape and mold to your head, providing the perfect, comfortable fit.

*everyone wears his or her cap differently and every manufacturer has different size specifications. i developed my size chart based on inch measurement with 3/8" increments between sizes.
